Before the bench: Makenna was born in Golden, Colorado but has lived in Charleston, South Carolina for as long as she can remember. She is currently a senior at Elon University where she is a double major in Public Health and Biology.

At the bench: Makenna is exploring how the gut microbiome is impacted by endocrine disrupting chemicals and seeing if this relates to autoimmune diseases. Additionally, she asks questions about how young adults perceive and navigate the healthcare system.

Away from the bench: Makenna is a big concert goer and enjoys music of all genres. Back in Charleston, she also loves to go surfing.
